WHAT DOES "NO-WIN, NO-FEE" MEAN?
It means that payment for our services depends on us winning your personal injury claim. In that event, our fees are paid by the insurance company of the person responsible for the accident. This fee is NOT taken from the compensation you receive. In the highly unlikely event of us being unsuccessful, then we receive no payment.
I WAS INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WASN’T MY FAULT. CAN I MAKE A CLAIM?
Yes. Personal Injury claims are for when a person has made a mistake that caused you to be injured. Those mistakes are usually covered by that person’s insurance policy. (Home or car.) Your compensation is then paid by that person’s insurance company.
WHAT DOES CAR ACCIDENT COMPENSATION COVER?
A number of things. First, is injury to you – and our immediate priority is to ensure you’re assessed by medical professionals. A clear diagnosis means that none of your injuries, and how they may affect you in the future, are overlooked in the settlement.
Compensation covers many other things, too – including repairs to your car, travel expenses and loss of earnings. We’ll make sure everything you’re entitled to is covered.
HOW MUCH COMPENSATION CAN I EXPECT?
That depends on the conclusions of the medical report we arrange for you. Usually, the report contains different elements of how the accident has affected you, including:
- pain, suffering, loss of amenity for the pain and restrictions on your activities
- loss of earnings – any wages the injury causes you to lose
- care and assistance – to cover the help needed for things like housework which your injury prevents you from doing.
There are other elements to claim against, too. So it’s worth telling us about anything affected by your injury.
HOW LONG WILL THE CLAIMS PROCESS TAKE?
There’s no simple answer to this because every claim is different. Generally, it’s about six months for non-serious injuries to be completely settled. However, if the other side deny liability or your injuries are more complicated, the process may take longer. We will always endeavor to ensure it proceeds as quickly as possible.
DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE IF I LOSE?
No. If we take on your claim, it's on a 'no-win, no-fee' basis. When we agree to act for you, we arrange an insurance policy that pays the other side’s fees in the event your claim is unsuccessful.
WILL I HAVE TO GO TO COURT?
Almost every case we handle is settled without the need for going to court. But if we can't come to an agreement with the other side that we believe is fair for you, court might be necessary. Don’t worry, we’ll be with you the whole time and, usually, your appearance will be brief.
